Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri dixit, an Indian actress famous for Hum Aapke Hai Koun (Beta Saajan) and Beta Saajan is among the most popular Indian actors. She began her career in the 80s before coming to popularity with her role in the Tezaab film, where she appeared alongside veteran actor Anil Kapoor. She then acted alongside Aamir on Dil. Born into a middle-class family in Mumbai she began learning to dance as a child. At the age of 16 she started acting, and struggled for years due to the fact that her films at first were unsuccessful. However, she eventually achieved success and was able to establish herself as one of the most prominent actors in the Indian film industry. She took a break from her career following her marriage before returning to the world of entertainment. She played a major role as a lead actress in Gulaab Gang, a film which explores women's struggles within India. Dixit is nominated in fifteen Filmfare Awards. Of these the awards she's won 8. Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award given to civilians in India, was bestowed upon Dixit. She is known for her charitable work as well.
